Hyde produced their best performance of the season after a long journey to Scarborough, returning with a comfortable 3 points. The tigers had a game plan to deal with the threats that Scarborough, whilst also playing brilliantly to their strengths.
Shortly after a penalty appeal for a foul by Taylor on Platt, the tigers went into the lead within the first 15 minutes of the game after Scarborough failed to react to a cross by Smalley which was poked into the bottom corner by Simpson, giving Taylor in the Scarborough goal no chance.
It wasn’t long before Hyde got their second when a good run by Platt, not being closed down, found himself in shooting distance lashing into net to send the travelling fans wild.
The remainder of the first half, and in fact the second, found Hyde defending solidly reducing the home side to shots outside the area which were dealt with comfortably, especially by Jordan Fagbola who was a rock in the Hyde defence, rightly earning himself man of the match.
Hyde’s only chance in the second half, to be expected when defending strongly, fell to the always energetic and hardworking Pratt who’s shot from inside the area went just wide of the post.
The victory kept Hyde in 10th, but only 9 points away from the play off places, and something to strive for going into the Christmas period.
